Highway 75 Construction Information

Grace Lutheran is OPEN during road construction!

The Highway 75 (Kniss Ave) complete reconstruction project is underway and will have significant impacts on Grace Lutheran for six months or more. Here are some key updates:

  • Kniss Avenue, our west driveway, sidewalks on the west side of the church, and some street parking on Bishop Street and Crawford Street, will mostly be inaccessbile until about September 1.
  • We will continue to have access to our parking lots from Bishop Street, Crawford Street, and Estey Street throughout the construction project, especially on Sundays. While there will be inconveniences, we will retain full access to and use of the church building all summer.
  • In most cases, we will be able to temporarily use our west driveway for funerals as needed.
  • Handicap parking continues to be available in the main parking lot as usual. The elevator is available for those who enter the main east doors to access the Sanctuary on the second level.
  • Some of our lawns and landscaping, and the city-owned sidewalks and alley accesses, will be impacted at times during road and utility work. Our sign is not expected to be impacted.
  • Our Property Ministry is working with MnDOT, the city, and Henning Construction during this construction process. Please contact Cory Schmuck if you have questions about the project’s impact on our church or property.

When coming to church, you are encouraged to use Estey Street or Freeman Avenue to access Bishop Street to enter the church parking lot from the north as usual. Exiting the parking lot to Crawford Street on the south will also continue as normal.

Access into and out of the lower parking lot from Estey Street will also continue as normal throughout the project.

In order to be as welcoming as possible on Sunday mornings, we encourage you to consider parking in the east parking lot in order to save the parking spots closest to the building for those with limited mobility, our senior members, and guests.
